On video call with wife, Faridabad man falls off Aravali cliff, dies | Gurgaon News – Times of India

GURUGRAM: A 40-year-old fabric designer died after falling 200ft off a cliff in the Aravalis while on a video call with his wife Saturday evening. Kamal Singh, who worked at a private textile company in Faridabad, had gone to a forested area off the Gurugram-Pali road with two friends – Harminder (42), a lawyer, and Ravi (25), a private firm employee.
“Kamal made a video call to his wife and was showing her the Aravali forests and hills. He probably hadn’t realised he had walked up to the edge of the cliff. He lost his balance, slipped and fell,” said Shri Bhagwan, the SHO of Dabua police station.
Aravali death: Took cops 3 hours to locate cliff
Kamal’s friends rushed to the police station and informed the cops around 7.30pm. But it took a police team and the two friends three hours just to locate the cliff from where Kamal fell. Since it was pitch dark, the police could recover the body after almost six hours. “The forest looks alike. So, the two friends got confused and could not locate the cliff for around three hours. We went round and round in the same area.
There are so many cliffs in this patch of the forest,” Bhagwan said. “The next couple of hours was spent locating the body. We had to use hydraulic cranes and ropes to pull the body out.” The police said the three had carried drinks with them to the forest. Originally from Bulandshahr in Uttar Pradesh, Kamal stayed in Faridabad’s Ballabhgarh. His body was handed over to his family after an autopsy. Kamal left behind a wife and two daughters, aged 11 and 3. Bhagwan said they had initiated inquest proceedings under Section 174 CrPc.
