Ex-bureaucrat CV Ananda Bose new Bengal governor | India News – Times of India

KOLKATA/KOCHI: CV Ananda Bose, a former bureaucrat belonging to the Kerala cadre, will be the new Bengal governor, according to a Rashtrapati Bhavan communique on Thursday.
The 71-year-old will replace La Ganesan, governor of Manipur who was given additional charge of Bengal after Jagdeep Dhankhar stepped down in July to be later elected the Vice-President of India.
Speaking to TOI, the governor-designate fondly recalled his “deep (atmik) connection with Bengal” and how he began his career as a SBI probationary officer posted in Kolkata. “I used to work out of offices in Chowringhee and Shyambazar while in Kolkata and used to stay on Rashbehari Avenue. I believe I had tons of K.C. Das rasagollas then,” Bose recalled.
The Trinamool Congress, which shared an uneasy relationship with Dhankhar, gave a guarded initial response: “The people of Bengal will accept him if he works within the ambit of the Constitution.”
