Drug overdose? Delhi woman on ventilator in Goa | Goa News – Times of India

PANAJI: A Delhi-based financial consultant is battling for her life after a suspected drug overdose at a party at Vagator. Goa police on Wednesday booked Sara Khan, 32, and Varanasi-based cardiologist Dr Abhishek Vikram Singh, 40, for alleged consumption of narcotics. Khan is currently on ventilator.
Khan and Singh, both “family friends”, arrived in Goa on Saturday. “We have booked Singh, Khan, and an unknown drug peddler under various sections of the NDPS Act,” Calangute police inspector Dattaguru Sawant told TOI.

Sawant said police suspect consumption of cocaine in the form of tablets.
Khan had planned the trip to Goa with Singh and another friend from Mumbai. However, the Mumbai friend’s Goa plan fizzled out, resulting in only Khan and Singh coming to Goa.
Upon their arrival, they checked into a five-star resort at Sinquerim along North Goa‘s coastal belt. Later, they went out partying at Vagator. Police said Singh, the cardiologist, told them that the duo consumed a narcotic substance.
Khan, after dancing for a while at the party, began feeling uneasy and started vomiting. They then decided to return to their hotel at 4am on Sunday, after which they went to sleep. Police said when the cardiologist woke up, he found Khan unconscious on the bathroom floor.
Singh, being a cardiologist, tried giving her first aid, but since she didn’t respond, he informed hotel authorities and took her to the primary health centre at Candolim. On receiving initial treatment there, she was shifted to a private hospital near Panaji. She is currently on ventilator, but her condition is improving, police said.
“An unknown accused person supplied narcotic/psychotropic drugs in the form of two tablets near the compound wall of Lumina by the Beach Club at Vagator to Khan and Singh, and both consumed the same in contravention of provisions of the NDPS Act, due to which Khan became physically ill and is presently undergoing medical treatment,” Sawant said.
“Singh, who is a friend of Khan, failed to give her timely medical support, thereby endangering her life,” he said.
The case comes three months after Haryana BJP functionary and TikTok star Sonali Phogat died of alleged consumption of narcotic substances.
