A test off field? Jadeja’s wife & sister play from different teams | India News – Times of India

RAJKOT: On opposite sides of the electoral fence in Gujarat, cricketer Ravindra Jadeja’s wife Rivaba and sister Naynaba are sparring over the former’s campaign strategy. Naynaba, who is actively working with the Congress, has accused her sister-in-law, who is the BJP candidate from Jamnagar (north), of violating laws.
Talking to reporters, Naynaba alleged that Rivaba had been taking along children, many of them sporting cricket uniforms, while campaigning. “Many of these kids are below 10 years of age and this clearly amounts to child labour. Our social worker Subhash Gujarat has filed a complaint with the district election officer to take action. Let’s see if they probe this in a neutral way,” Naynaba said.
Rivaba said the allegations had been made “by a Congress worker and not by my sister-in-law”. “I have been actively involved in several campaigns to empower women and youth in my constituency,” Rivaba claimed.
Naynaba also alleged that Rivaba, who had not changed her surname even six years after marriage, mentioned her name as Rivaba Solanki (Ravindrasinh) in the election form. “Does she want to use his name for publicity?” she questioned. Dismissing it as a “meaningless” issue, the cricketer’s wife said, “They (Congress) are raking up some technicalities about surname change which exposes their mindset.”
